Turning a computer off

If you are stuck, or the computer is not responding, you can always turn the computer off by pressing the power button and holding it down for several seconds. This will work but, over time, this can make the computer not run well and you will lose any unsaved work.

To properly turn off the computer – called “shutting down“- find the “Start Button” icon in the left bottom corner of the screen, click on it, and then select the “shut down” option from the menu that appears. Once the computer is shut down, you can unplug it from the power source.

Make sure to shut down the computer each time you are not using it.
