A laptop is a portable computer that gives you the chance to move around from place to place. It is harder to upgrade and might not be as powerful as a desktop but is very convenient.
Laptop set up
A laptop comes with its own keyboard, screen and computer all built in. It may even have a built in webcam. It probably has a “touchpad” instead of a mouse. To turn it on, first plug in the power cable into the socket on the laptop, then into the wall socket. NOTE: on refurbished laptops the battery may not work or only work for a short time. We recommend keeping the laptop plugged into power while using it and saving your work often.
Next, just find the power button and press it. It might be tricky finding the power button at first, sometimes they are right next to the keyboard and hidden by the laptop beginning closed. If you cannot find the button at first, open the laptop and have another look.
Touchpad
The touchpad is a great way to control the cursor on the laptop’s screen and make navigating and selecting items easier. It can be used to move the cursor around the screen and select items by either tapping the touchpad or using two fingers to click and drag. It can also be used to scroll through documents and web pages by swiping two fingers up and down the touchpad. It is also helpful for zooming in and out of images and text by pinching two fingers together or spreading them apart on the touchpad.
